At least 239 people were killed due to ethnic violence in Ethiopia during the protests over the murder of a popular singer from the Oromo ethnic group. The violent protests erupted after Pop star Hachalu Hundessa, a hero for many, was shot dead on Monday by unidentified assailants. This led to the ethnic tensions and brawl between several groups. The epicenter of the protests was the capital Addis Ababa.
