UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson ordered the shutting of pubs, imposing restrictions in parts of England as a part of a tiered lockdown to curb the further spread of the novel coronavirus. Johnson told the parliament that the country "would suffer an intolerable death toll from Covid" if the virus is left uncontrolled. He also said that an "uncontrolled second spike" would leave the health officials helpless.
