SC dismisses PIL seeking minority status to Hindus in eight states

The Supreme Court today dismissed a PIL seeking redefinition of "minority" to include Hindus in the states where they are in minority. The court directed petitioners to approach individual High Courts of the states where Hindus are in minority. The PIL sought minority status for Hindus in eight states including Lakshadweep (2.5%), Mizoram (2.75 %), Nagaland (8.75%), Meghalaya (11.53%), J&K (28.44 %), Arunachal Pradesh (29%).
