A group of researchers recently carried out a study about the trees in North Carolina, and they found many trees that easily top the 2,000-year mark and at least one well over 2,600 years old. The study examined a total of 110 trees in a 16,000-acre land owned by North Carolina Nature Conservancy. The Bald Cypress trees are located along the Black River and a single tree designated BLK227 is at least 2,624 years old.
