Pentagon revealed that a drone strike by US killed a senior Al Qaeda leader in north-western Syria, a region that is largely under the control of rebels. "The initial indications are that they struck the individual that they were targeting and that they don't have any indications at this time of civilian casualties," John Kirby said. The strike comes days after US admitted the killing of 10 civilians in a strike in Afghanistan.
