The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is preparing to raise seven new battalions comprising 10,000 soldiers in view of the ongoing standoff between Indian and Chinese troops along the sensitive Line of Actual Control in Ladakh. The fresh induction will take the strength of ITBP to 1 lakh from 90,000. Union Ministry has already given its nod for the induction. ITBP is now awaiting the cabinet's nod.
