Supreme Court asks courts to steer clear of misogynistic comments in sexual offence cases

After the huge uproar over controversial comments by session court judges in cases related to sexual offences across the country, the Supreme Court has directed all courts in the country to avoid commenting upon the dressing, behaviour, past conduct, morals or chastity of women. "Entrenched paternalistic and misogynistic attitudes that are regrettably reflected at times in judicial orders must be forbidden," the top court said.
