Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines Ralph Gonsalves ordered an evacuation after the La Soufriere volcano on the island of St Vincent erupted on Friday. The volcano had remained inactive for decades. The neighbourhood areas were covered with ash and smoke. Small explosions could be heard throughout the day.
