US aircraft carrier in Gulf as tension rebuilds between Iran and US

United States has sent its aircraft carrier to Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz after Washington vowed to impose sanctions on Tehran even as the UNSC members said they were not in support of sanctioning Iran. The US Navy has sent a strike group led by the USS Nimitz and including two guided-missile cruisers and a guided-missile destroyer into the Gulf. Nimitz Strike Group is operating in the 5th Fleet area of operations.
