The WHO and IMF chiefs insisted Friday that saving lives was a "prerequisite" to saving livelihoods as the count of people affected with coronavirus started inching towards 1.1 million mark. The global bodies referred to the coronavirus pandemic as "one of humanity's darkest hours". COVID-19 has killed more than 50,000 people worldwide. A record 85 countries were seeking IMF emergency financing to fight the pandemic.
