India today surpassed Italy to become sixth worst affected nation by the novel coronavirus as it recorded 9,887 cases in the past 24 hours. The total count of coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 2,36,657. The death toll has reached 6,642 as 294 fresh deaths were reported in the past 24 hours. 1,14,073 patients have been cured/discharged. The active cases of the deadly disease in the country are 1,15,942.
