The "Indian Society of Oriental Art" was founded by Abanindranath Tagore, who was its principal artist and lived from 7 August 1871 to 5 December 1951. He was also the first significant Indian artist to represent Swadeshi ideals. He established the significant Bengal School of Art, which influenced the evolution of contemporary Indian painting. He was also a well-known author, particularly of books for kids. Often referred to as "Aban Thakur," his works Rajkahini, Buro Angla, Nalak, and Khirer Putul set the standard for children's literature and illustration in the Bengali language.
