Ex-UEFA president Michel Platini arrested in charge of corruption

Former UEFA president Michel Platini has been arrested amid an investigation into alleged corruption in the 2022 Qatar World Cup bidding process. Platini is reportedly being held in custody at a police station in Paris. He was Uefa president for 8 years until 2015 when he was banned from football by the Fifa ethics committee. Platini was found guilty of accepting a disloyal payment of £1.6million from Sepp Blatter.
