Karnataka Premier League team owner arrested for betting

Ali Ashfaq Thara, the owner of a Karnataka Premier League franchise Belagavi Panthers, has been arrested in relation with betting scandal. Police have found evidence of betting conspiracy and also a probing match-fixing angle. Thara was connected to the players from other KPL teams as well. Last year, a KPL match between Bijapur Bulls and Hubli Tigers had come under the scanner over suspicious betting patterns.
