The Madras HC on Thursday approved disqualification of 18 lawmakers loyal to expelled party leader VK Sasikala and her nephew TTV Dhinakaran. After the lawmakers wrote to the governor looking for the removal of CM E Palaniswami, the assembly Speaker, last year, disqualified them invoking the anti-defection law. Now there will be by-elections for 18 seats, with 2 more that have been vacant since the death of members.
