Safety at stake, 55,000 thefts in trains in last three and a half years

On Sunday Railway officials said that 55,369 cases of theft were reported whereas 1,570 cases of robberies were reported. The cases happened in the running train in the last three and a half years. As per the data by Indian Railways, 9,222 cases of theft and 159 of robbery were reported in the current year between January and June. Maximum theft cases were reported from CR (3907), then WR (2844), NR (2480), and SR (2093).
