Candidates with any educational background are eligible to compete.
Aspirants from all academic and social backgrounds are eligible to take the UPSC CSE. However, for Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, and Indian Police Service, the candidate must be an Indian citizen. To be eligible for CSE, one must be a graduate (or be awaiting graduation final results). Candidates must be between the ages of 21 and 32. (relaxation provided for reserved categories).
