BUNK JOHNSON'S BRASS AND DANCE BAND 1945 RELEASED A NEW ORLEANS BRASS BAND'S FIRST RECORD.
The album, which was released in 1945, included the titular Bunk on trumpet as well as an alto horn, bass horn, baritone horn, snare drum, and bass drum. The band is "so out of tune that it makes the music difficult to listen to," according to Jazz on Record. Thankfully, Bunk Johnson and his band significantly improved on subsequent albums, and the New Orleans brass band tradition is still alive and well today.
