In 1612, a family known as the Wadiyars stormed Mysore and dethroned the ill Tirumalaraja. After taking their place in the palace, the Wadiyars requested that all royal jewels be removed from Queen Alamelamma. During this moment, the Queen dashed toward a ledge overlooking the Kaveri River. "Talakadu MaraLagali, Malangi Maduvagali, Mysooru Arasarige Makkalaagadirali," she shouted before falling to her death. The Wadiyars have even created an idol of the Queen to shield themselves from the curse, yet they continue to suffer the effects. The Wadiyar Royal dynasty is still governed by Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, a distant relative of the late King Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, who died childlessly
