In fact, there was such a public outcry when traffic lights were placed that the city reverted to utilising white-gloved traffic cops till today. This was only seen at one road crossroads in Thimphu, but it was an interesting sight! Aside from that, there are no traffic signals in the entire country. It works because, given how mountainous and secluded Bhutan is, there aren't many cars around.
